The vaccination requirements for the Immigration Medical exams are set forth by the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, and are age specific.
We offer a free consultation as a courtesy to our immigrants, in order to discuss the vaccine requirements with the doctor. We also offer Blood titres for adults who wish to check their immunity to the vaccines they received in their childhood years. It is not in the best interest of the patient to re-vaccinate without knowing their immune status.
Children will usually not need any additional vaccines if the Florida Certificate of Immunization is up to date. We recommend that children under the age of 19, who are recent arrivals to the U.S., and who do not possess a vaccination record, visit our office before going to the Florida Department of Health. It is common that children are re-vaccinated unnecessarily by the health department. Blood titres are a safe and effective method of determining the immune status of the child, and are readily available through our office. It is important to avoid unnecessary vaccines in children!! The future of their health depends on it!
